About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join Turramurra Family Practice on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with bookkeeping experience to support our administrative team in Turramurra NSW 2074. As a Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our practice by managing our day-to-day accounting operations. Your work will ensure accurate financial records, compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and the provision of timely financial information to support management decision-making.

What you'll be doing

• Recording and processing financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and expenses

• Reconciling bank statements and credit card accounts on a regular basis

• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

• Preparing financial statements and reports for management review

• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation

• Processing payroll information and preparing related documentation

• Assisting with GST compliance and tax-related administrative tasks

• Liaising with external accountants and tax advisors as required

• Supporting the practice manager with general administrative and financial duties

• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and practice procedures

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in bookkeeping or small practice accounting, ideally within a healthcare or medical practice setting

• Proficiency with accounting software and general computer applications such as Microsoft Excel

• Strong understanding of general accounting principles, GST compliance, and payroll processes

• Excellent numeracy skills with meticulous attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines

• Strong organisational and time management abilities

• Professional communication skills and the ability to work well with practice staff and external stakeholders

• Reliability and discretion when handling confidential financial information

• A qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, or related field is highly desirable

• Experience with medical practice management systems or HICAPS is preferred but not essential
