Senior Steel Detailer

Location: Currently Cleveland (4163) (moving to Staplyton (4207) from December/January 2026/2027)

Working type: Permanent, full-time role, hybrid model

Network Steel is looking for an experienced Senior Steel Detailer to join our Queensland team in a key technical and quality-focused role.

Reporting to the QLD Detailing Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of the QA Auditor function, ensuring the quality and integrity of detailing work before it reaches the floor.

About the role

This is more than a checking role. You’ll use your technical experience and judgement to determine the right level of assurance for each job, identify and address quality trends, support our detailers and offshore team, and help build capability across the function.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Quality & Assurance

• Lead quality checks using a risk-based approach
• Own the accuracy and integrity of work you sign off
• Record and analyse markups to identify recurring quality trends
• Audit bypassed work and escalate issues when required

Technical Support

• Complete Fab Revisions and site work reviews
• Identify and raise applicable ETS
• Provide technical support to detailers and offshore teams
• Help maintain and improve technical standards

Coaching & Development

• Coach detailers on recurring issues and their root causes
• Support the development of capability across the team
• Provide recommendations when detailers are ready for greater autonomy

We’re looking for an experienced detailer who combines strong technical knowledge with sound judgement and a genuine commitment to quality.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience in steel detailing, ideally within a manufacturing or structural steel environment
• Strong understanding of detailing standards, fabrication requirements and technical drawings
• A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• The confidence to make sound risk-based decisions
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• The ability to identify recurring issues and address their root cause
• A coaching mindset and the ability to develop others
• Strong communication skills across internal teams and offshore resources
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability for the work you sign off
