About the role
Play an integral role in delivering this community initiative on the unceded land of the Taungurung, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung, Wadawurrung and Bunurong peoples across Greater Melbourne in Victoria. This role walks alongside Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) supporting their self-determined priorities for establishing kitchen gardens and culturally appropriate food education for children and young people.
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation enables preventative, positive change in the food, health, wellbeing and sustainability habits of children and young people, families and communities right across Australia.
We are seeking a motivated and culturally informed Project Lead to deliver the Our Food Connections Project, on the unceded land of the Taungurung, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung, Wadawurrung and Bunurong peoples across Greater Melbourne in Victoria. Reporting to the Community Initiatives Manager, the Project Lead will work under general direction and be responsible for day-to-day project coordination, community engagement and expense tracking of the project.
This dynamic role involves walking alongside Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) supporting their self-determined priorities for establishing kitchen gardens and culturally appropriate food education for children and young people. Intra-state travel is required to provide on-the-ground support.
You will join a passionate, supportive and collaborative group of people dedicated to supporting schools, early childhood services and communities to experience fun, hands-on and delicious food education for all young Australians.
This is a part-time role 15.2 hours per week. There is a possibility that this role could be combined with another project based in the Western suburbs of Narrm (Melbourne) to make it a full-time role. Please let us know if this option is of interest in your application. Note, you would be expected to work on the ground in the Western suburbs.
