About the role
St. Elizabeth Home is a residential aged care facility established by the Hungarian Catholic Community, located in Dean Park on beautifully spacious landscaped grounds. We provide quality accommodation and care services with Christian values for residents, primarily of Hungarian background. Our Home has 102 beds, including a 20-bed secure memory support unit.
We are currently seeking reliable, caring and motivated people to join our Hospitality Services team in the roles of Kitchen Hand and Cleaner.
These roles play an important part in supporting the comfort, safety, dignity and wellbeing of our residents. Working as part of our hospitality team, you will help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and support the delivery of quality catering and cleaning services across the Home.
Applicants may apply for the Kitchen Hand role, the Cleaner role, or may express interest in both roles.
The Kitchen Hand supports the Cook and Chef Manager in the daily operation of the kitchen and meal service.
Key duties include:
Assisting with the preparation of meals, fluids, morning tea and afternoon tea
Assisting with plating and serving meals in an attractive and respectful manner
Supporting residents’ nutrition and hydration needs in line with their preferences and assessed requirements
Washing dishes, trays, utensils and kitchen equipment after meals
Setting up trays, tables and meal service areas
Maintaining the kitchen, floors, equipment and work areas to a high standard of cleanliness
Following food safety, infection control and WHS requirements
Completing documentation as directed by the Cook or Chef Manager
The Cleaner supports the Hospitality Services Manager by providing high-quality cleaning services across the Home.
Key duties include:
Providing efficient and high-quality cleaning services in accordance with cleaning schedules and duty statements
Cleaning resident rooms, common areas, work areas and other areas as directed
Responding respectfully and appropriately to residents’ requests
Taking care with residents’ personal belongings and maintaining their dignity and privacy
Using cleaning chemicals, cleaning agents and equipment safely
Maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control, including hand hygiene and standard precautions
Ensuring utility rooms, equipment and work areas are left clean and tidy
Reporting equipment faults, hazards, incidents or maintenance issues to the appropriate supervisor
Working independently while contributing to the cleaning and hospitality team
Following WHS, infection control and organisational policies and procedures
We are looking for people who are respectful, reliable, caring and willing to contribute to a positive aged care environment.
To be successful, you will have:
Experience in aged care, hospitality, cleaning, catering or a commercial kitchen environment
A genuine caring and empathetic approach to older people
A positive attitude towards working in aged care
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work as part of a team and follow reasonable instructions
Commitment to infection control, WHS, quality improvement and safe work practices
Good personal presentation and hygiene standards
Willingness to complete mandatory training and ongoing professional development
Current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
