FlexSys AI
About the role
We're teaching GPUs to talk to the power grid.
Every AI data centre being built right now hits the same wall: not enough power, not fast enough. Grid connections are years deep. Prices swing wildly. Regulators are circling. And meanwhile, renewable energy gets curtailed because nothing on the grid is flexible enough to soak it up. FlexSysAI sits in the middle of that. Our platform spans the whole chain - from the utility down to the GPU cluster - so live market and grid signals reach the workload itself.
We're an Australian company backed by EnergyLab, and we're part of NVIDIA's Inception program, doing this in Australia first with global expansion plans. The National Electricity Market has one of the world's most volatile grids and the highest renewable penetration - if it works here, it works anywhere.
The role
You'll be an early engineer building the platform itself, working directly with our CTO and Dev Lead. This is a small team - what you ship goes to production and moves real megawatts and real money.
What we're looking for
Strong software engineering skills in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript with React or similar, or backend languages such as Node.js, Python, or Java).Comfort with python / typescript, cloud infrastructure, time-series data - but we care more about how you think than your exact stackExperience with real-time, event-driven, or distributed systems where correctness and latency both matterSomeone who owns problems end-to-end: an early-stage team means unclear edges, shifting priorities, and no one to hand it off toThe curiosity to learn a genuinely deep domain - energy markets, demand response, GPU orchestration. We'll teach you. You have to want it.
What you get
A seat at the table on architecture, from a genuinely early stageWork that compounds: the economics of compute underwriting the energy transition, starting in Australia with plans to go globalNew Melbourne office
