The Role
Maritime Sustainment Division is seeking a high-performing Work Health and Safety professional to lead safety governance and assurance activities across Australia's nationally significant naval shipbuilding programs. This is a unique opportunity to influence safety outcomes in a complex, high-risk maritime construction environment while contributing to the delivery of sovereign naval capability.
As the senior WHS advisor for in Western Australia, you will provide authoritative advice to managers and executives, influence safety culture across multiple organisations, and lead proactive assurance activities within active shipbuilding environments.
Based in Henderson WA, this role operates within the Operations Directorate and contributes to the delivery of WHS outcomes across a complex and diverse operating environment. While the position sits within Naval Construction Branch WA (NCB WA), it requires extensive engagement with a broad range of stakeholders across Maritime Systems Division (MSD).
This position will be a senior Work Health Safety and Environment leader within MSD WA and will provide guidance and mentoring to other MSD Work Health Safety and Environment professionals within MSD.
The position reports to the Operations Director whilst supervising an APS 6 WHS Officer. Collectively you will undertake safety governance and assurance activities (both desktop and infield).

Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) operates within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group delivering in-service support to Navy and Army along with delivering new capability to Government. MSD is embarking on transformational change to establish the Maritime Sustainment Model and ensure the organisation is able to respond to emerging demands and strategic priorities.
Naval Construction Branch sits within MSD and is accountable for the assurance of ship construction, set-to work activities and vessel transit constructed at Henderson Defence Precinct WA and the Osborne Naval Shipyard SA.
