Room Leader – Diploma Qualified Educator or Early Childhood Teacher

About the role

As Room Leader Educator or ECT, you will provide strong pedagogical and day-to-day leadership within the learning environment, working collaboratively with colleagues and the wider team to create a positive, consistent and high-quality experience for children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pedagogical and day-to-day leadership within the learning environment, working collaboratively with educators and the wider team to create a positive, respectful and inclusive culture.
• Build strong, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues, supporting children's learning, development, wellbeing and sense of belonging.
• Lead and contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of an engaging curriculum aligned with the EYLF and NQF, with a strong focus on child-led learning, agency, intentional teaching and children's individual interests and strengths.
• Promote children's emotional wellbeing, regulation and co-regulation, while creating responsive and respectful learning environments.
• Champion child-safe practices and cultures, ensuring children's rights, voices, safety and wellbeing are central to everyday practice and that children feel safe, respected, heard and empowered to express their views.
• Mentor and support educators within the room to build their confidence, knowledge and professional practice, contributing to a culture of collaboration, reflection and continuous professional growth.
• Contribute to the Centre's QIP, pedagogical projects, sustainability program and continuous improvement priorities, including fostering children's connection with and responsibility for the natural environment.
• Model high-quality professional practice and contribute positively to the wider Centre team and the ongoing development of Waite Campus Children's Centre.

About you

• Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification recognised by ACECQA.
• Current First Aid Certificate, including asthma and anaphylaxis training.
• Current satisfactory Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• Current RRHAN-EC training.
• Current Mandatory Child Safety Training.
• Strong knowledge of the EYLF, NQF.
• Experience developing and implementing meaningful learning programs.
• Strong knowledge of child development and relationship-based practice.
• A genuine interest in emotional regulation, co-regulation and child-led learning.
• A commitment to reflective practice and continuous quality improvement.
