Assistant Director of Sport - Primary

We're looking for an energetic, organised and genuinely passionate sport leader to take the reins of our thriving Primary Sports program — and to teach alongside our talented Primary team along the way.

About the Role:

This is a rare opportunity to build something meaningful: you'll design the sporting experiences that spark a lifelong love of participation, lead our biggest carnival days, and create the pathways that carry our youngest athletes into Secondary sport. With a 0.5 FTE teaching load balanced against 0.5 FTE of dedicated sport leadership, you'll stay connected to the classroom while making a visible, lasting impact across the whole Primary community.

What You’ll Do:

• Coordinate a vibrant Primary sport program, creating age-appropriate participation and competition opportunities that get every student excited to take part.
• Coordinate Primary District Representative Sport — nominations, selections and representative pathways.
• Lead our much-loved swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals.
• Coordinate Primary interschool sport, from entries and staffing to risk assessments and family communication.
• Build stronger connections between Primary and Secondary sport, creating clear pathways for students to keep progressing.
• Take direct Teacher in Charge (TIC) leadership of designated whole school sports, including Touch, Volleyball and others.
• Mentor and support our Primary TICs and coaches, lifting the standard of sport delivery across the school.
• Teach a 0.5 FTE Primary classroom/specialist teaching load, staying connected to students in and out of the sporting arena.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor of Education (Primary) or equivalent, with current QCT registration (or eligibility).
• Runs on the board leading or coordinating a school sport program, ideally at Primary level.
• A genuine understanding of child-safe coaching practice and risk management.
• A natural ability to build relationships — with students, staff, families and the wider sporting community.
• Sharp organisational skills and a cool head when the co-curricular calendar gets busy.
