Domestic Services Assistant (NT-Top End) {Darwin; Casuarina; Palmerston; Coolalinga; Howard Springs; Humpty Doo; Berry Springs; Adelaide River}

• Provides support with household tasks to promote independence and participation in community life for individuals in various settings, such as assisted living or community-based programs.
• This role encompasses a range of duties including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and assisting with personal care, often requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills, according to career advice websites.

Cleaning:

• Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and changing bed linens.

Laundry:

• Washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes.

Meal Preparation:

• Cooking and preparing meals based on dietary needs and preferences.

Supporting Independence:

• Encouraging participation in daily activities and assisting with tasks to promote self-sufficiency.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• Effectively communicating with residents, families, and other staff, and maintaining confidentiality.

Organisation and Prioritization:

• Managing tasks, meeting deadlines, and working independently.

Other Tasks:

• Depending on the setting, tasks may include providing companionship and engaging in community activities.

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
• Demonstrated understanding of the needs of the older person in the Home Care Environment and the ways in which these needs can be met.
• Demonstrated ability to assist in the provision of holistic individual, client focused care using a systematic approach.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, significant others and other members of the Right at Home care team.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote the safety of clients and self in the work environment including a knowledge of emergency procedures, Work Health and Safety and Infection Control.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Legislation applicable to the role of a Domestic Services Assistant in the Home Care Environment.

Working Conditions/Environment

• Primarily works in patients’ place of residence, travel required. Shift or visit times and days vary with patient needs
