General Practice Nurse

About the role

Shelley Hub Family Practice is seeking a General Practice Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team on a full-time or (part-time) basis. Based in Shelley, WA 6148, this role is fundamental to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical operations of our practice. As a General Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in managing patient interactions, providing clinical support to our doctors, and ensuring our patients receive compassionate, evidence-based care in a primary healthcare setting.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting patient health assessments and vital sign measurements (blood pressure, temperature, weight, and other relevant observations)

• Assisting with clinical procedures and examinations under the direction of the General Practitioner

• Administering vaccinations and immunisations in accordance with national immunisation schedules

• Performing minor wound care, dressings, and suture removals

• Managing patient records and maintaining accurate clinical documentation

• Providing patient education and health promotion advice on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle practices

• Supporting chronic disease management programs including diabetes, asthma, and cardiovascular disease monitoring

• Processing pathology requests and managing test results appropriately

• Triaging patient enquiries and determining appropriate clinical responses

• Contributing to practice quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance processes

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-controlled clinical environment

What we're looking for

• Registered Nurse qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)

• Current Australian nursing registration and unrestricted practice rights

• Demonstrated experience working in a general practice or primary healthcare setting (minimum 2 years preferred but not necessary)

• Strong knowledge of general medical and surgical nursing principles and practices

• Competency in administering immunisations and vaccinations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations

• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in clinical documentation

• Current First Aid and CPR certification

• Proficiency with medical practice management software and electronic health records

• A commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competency

• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment
