Trade Assistant

Established in 1977, AEM has been providing clients with products and services related to electric motors, pumps and generators for over 49 years.

AEM is currently looking to fill the following position;

• Cable Repair Technician/Trade Assistant 

 The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and characteristics:

• Relevant experience in industrial/mining cable repairs such as, splicing, insulation & jacket repairs, testing  preferred but not essential.

• Basic knowledge of electrical testing and terminology desired.

• Excellent communication skills and problem solving skills.

• Be a valuable team player and show respect to team members and customers.

• Forklift license or willing to obtain one  

• Attention to detail and quick learner

About the Role:

The key responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to:

• Assess, identify, test and repair trailing cables in accordance with AS1747.

• Disassemble, assess, and reassemble couplers/plugs and accessories.

• Safely perform all electrical tests required during a cable repair.

• Complete all necessary paperwork associated with the job in a thorough and legible manner.

• Be available for overtime when required.

• Undertake ongoing training and training of other persons to AEM standard.

• Work in accordance with documented procedures.

• Perform any other duties and tasks as directed by the Workshop Foreman/Management.

This position is ideal for an entry level individual looking to develop skills as a trailing cable repair technician.

AEM offers a full-time position based in Gepps Cross, SA with ongoing training, growth and development opportunities. 

Selected candidate may be subjected to medical assessment prior to the start of employment. Random drug & alcohol screening will also be carried out.
