Panel Beater - Central Coast

A transport and fleet services organisation is expanding its maintenance team and is now hiring a Panel Beater / Body Builder to support the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of its vehicle fleet.

In this role, you'll be responsible for carrying out body repairs, panel work, fabrication, and restoration of vehicle structures to ensure vehicles are safe, functional, and maintained in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.

We're looking for someone who is hands-on, mechanically minded, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can confidently complete repairs in a busy workshop environment.

This is a full-time position based in Central Coast, NSW, working as part of a hands-on maintenance team responsible for keeping the fleet operational and maintaining vehicles to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out panel beating, body repairs, and structural repairs on vehicles and vehicle bodies.
• Repair, replace, and fabricate damaged panels, body components, and vehicle structures.
• Assess vehicle damage and determine the appropriate repair methods and materials.
• Carry out cutting, shaping, fitting, alignment, and assembly of body components.
• Perform welding and fabrication as required for vehicle body and structural repairs.
• Ensure repaired panels and body components are correctly aligned and fitted.
• Prepare repaired surfaces for finishing, painting, or further bodywork.
• Use workshop tools, machinery, measuring equipment, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and safety standards.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, structural integrity, and correct fitment.
• Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records as required.
• Work closely with mechanics and the wider maintenance team to coordinate vehicle repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
• Identify additional repair requirements and report issues to the relevant supervisor.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Panel Beating, Vehicle Body Building, Automotive Body Repair, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in panel beating, body building, vehicle repairs, or a similar hands-on trade environment.
• Strong practical skills in repairing and fabricating vehicle body components.
• Ability to assess damage and determine appropriate repair techniques.
• Competent using hand tools, power tools, workshop machinery, and fabrication equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical information and vehicle specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to repairs.
• Commitment to following company procedures, manufacturer standards, and workplace safety requirements.
• Australian work rights are required.

Desirable but Not Essential

• Experience working on commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, trailers, or fleet vehicles.
• Experience with vehicle body building or structural fabrication.
• Welding and metal fabrication experience.
• Experience working with aluminium, steel, or other vehicle body materials.
