Kitchen Catering Assistant

About the role

Join the team of Brunswick Valley Meals on Wheels, servicing the Byron shire in Brunswick Heads. You will prepare fresh salads and sandwiches, along with some hot meals.

You will be in charge of repacking frozen meals for the following week and ensuring frozen food is stocked and regularly rotated for ordering and packing purposes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare fresh salads and sandwiches

• Prepare hot meals

• Repack frozen meals for the following week

• Ensure frozen food is stocked and regularly rotated

About you

• Minimum one year experience as a catering assistant in the aged care industry or in a comparable role and industry

• Sound knowledge of food safety standards, including safe food handling, storage, and infection control practices

• Understanding of catering operations and dietary requirements within an aged care facility, including modified diets and texture-modified meals

• Strong attention to detail and effective organisational skills to support timely and accurate meal service

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with clients, families, and staff

• Availability Sun, Mon, Tue, and Fridays (Monday and Tuesdays are early starts)
