About the role
The Specialised Technician is responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, inspection, testing, commissioning and technical support of Zone Group's specialised equipment fleet and customer equipment Australia wide. The primary focus of the role is Zone Group's specialised electric crane and vacuum lifting technology, including Jekko lithium/electric cranes, Smartlift vacuum lifting robots and OKTOPUS vacuum lifting systems. The role requires strong technical capability across electrical, hydraulic, vacuum and mechanical systems, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and manufacturer requirements. The Specialised Technician will work both independently and as part of the wider operations team, providing workshop and field support, responding to breakdowns, preparing equipment for hire and sale, and ensuring equipment is maintained and presented to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
Carry out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on Zone Group rental fleet equipment and customer-owned equipment
Diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic, vacuum and mechanical faults using technical knowledge, manufacturer information, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics and technical specifications
Complete annual inspections, testing and required service documentation in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and Zone Group requirements
Test, inspect and commission new equipment prior to sale, hire or delivery, ensuring equipment operates in accordance with manufacturer specifications
Provide technical support to customers and Zone Group personnel, including telephone support, remote troubleshooting and on-site call-outs when required
Attend customer sites to complete breakdown repairs, servicing, inspections, testing and other technical work, working autonomously with limited supervision where appropriate
Prepare equipment for hire and return-to-service, including functional checks, on-hire/off-hire reports, photographs, cleaning and presentation of equipment
Conduct customer handovers and equipment familiarisation, providing practical information and guidance on safe operation within manufacturer specifications
Maintain accurate service records, inspection records, job documentation and other technical or administrative records associated with work performed
Operate specialised equipment, cranes, vacuum lifting equipment, forklifts and other plant for which the employee holds the required licence or competency
About you
Current relevant Trade Certificate
Current Construction White Card
Unrestricted manual driver's licence; HR licence is required
Relevant High Risk Work Licence competencies for duties performed
Demonstrated experience in fault finding and diagnosing equipment faults that may not be immediately identifiable
Experience servicing or repairing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical equipment; experience with vacuum lifting technology is highly regarded
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and manufacturer service information
Working knowledge of first aid practices and workplace health and safety requirements
Basic computer literacy, including the ability to complete electronic service records and use Microsoft Office applications
Good level of physical fitness suitable for workshop and field-based technical work
