About the role
22.8 hours per week (typically 3 days per week)
Launceston Women's Shelter Inc. is seeking a practical, reliable and community-minded Property and Grounds Officer to join our team.
This hands-on role is responsible for the maintenance and presentation of our properties, facilities, grounds, vehicles and organisational assets. You will play an important role in ensuring that the women and children who access our services are supported in safe, welcoming and well-maintained environments.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, this position offers a unique opportunity to combine practical maintenance work with meaningful community impact.
Launceston Women's Shelter Inc. provides crisis accommodation, transitional housing and support services for women and children experiencing homelessness, family violence and other circumstances that place them at risk.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer or delegated manager, the Property and Grounds Officer will:
Undertake routine maintenance and minor repairs across organisational properties.
Conduct regular property inspections.
Monitor the condition of buildings, assets and infrastructure.
Coordinate and liaise with contractors and service providers.
Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Support workplace health and safety initiatives.
Maintain safe, welcoming and well-presented environments across all sites.
Contribute to preventative maintenance planning and asset management.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience in property maintenance, facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, trades or a related field.
Practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills.
A current driver's licence and WWVP card
A commitment to professionalism, confidentiality and respectful engagement with others.
Relevant trade qualifications, First Aid certification, White Card training or experience coordinating contractors will be highly regarded.
Permanent part-time position (0.6 FTE).
22.8 hours per week, typically across three days.
