RESIDENT CO-ORDINATOR (LIVE-IN POSITION)

A mature aged person is required to live on-site and maintain an established retirement village in the eastern suburbs. This is a small freehold village of 26 units in which the Caretaker is the only employee, so the person we need must be able to attend to the well-being of our residents as well as carry out general handy-man tasks and light administrative duties. This is a hands-on role that would suit an active and energetic mature person or early retiree.

Applicants must hold valid Australian work authorisation or visa permitting employment.

Reporting to the village Management Company, the Caretaker's duties include:

• performing routine maintenance tasks for the village grounds and buildings, which includes jobs such as mowing lawns and maintaining edges, cleaning out roof gutters on units and community buildings, weeding and planting of new gardens, changing high-placed light globes in residents' units and community buildings, erecting signs and other basic carpentry work, etc

• being on call to respond to the emergency call system

• driving the village bus to take residents on regular outings

• a standard car driving licence is required for operating the village bus

• providing support to all residents and their family members as needed

• assisting new residents to settle in to the village

• attending and participating in resident meetings

• attending to the day to day administration

The ideal candidate will need:

• ability to relate sensitively to seniors

• a warm and outgoing personality

• proven leadership ability

• strong communication and negotiation skills

• organisational and time management skills

• reporting and administrative capabilities

• reasonable computer skills (Microsoft Office)

• current first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)

• driver's licence and safe driving record

• current national police check

• national police check certification is mandatory for this position

• The successful candidate will need to be or become familiar with the Retirement Villages Act legislation.

• familiarity with or willingness to learn the Retirement Villages Act requirements is essential
