Residential Draftsperson

About the role

Prestige Homes & Granny Flats is seeking an experienced Residential Draftsperson to join our growing team. We specialise in custom granny flats and single-storey homes throughout the Perth metropolitan, Rockingham and Peel regions. This role would suit an organised and motivated draftsperson who can manage residential drawings accurately and efficiently from initial concept through to building approval and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare concept plans, planning drawings and detailed working drawings.

• Draft custom granny flats and single-storey residential homes.

• Review client selections, quotations, addenda and construction requirements.

• Amend drawings following client, builder, engineer and council feedback.

• Prepare documentation for planning and building permit applications.

• Ensure drawings comply with the NCC, Australian Standards, WA R-Codes and relevant local government requirements.

• Coordinate drawings with engineering, energy assessments, surveying and other consultants.

• Check plans thoroughly before they are issued for client approval or construction.

• Maintain accurate job records, drawing revisions and document control.

• Work closely with our registered builder, administration, estimating, sales and pre-start teams.

About you

• Previous experience drafting residential homes or granny flats in Western Australia.

• A relevant qualification in building design or residential drafting.

• Strong knowledge of WA residential construction methods and approval requirements.

• Experience preparing complete working drawing packages.

• Proficiency in residential drafting software.

• Excellent attention to detail and a strong checking process.

• The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Clear communication skills and the confidence to liaise with clients, consultants, councils and our internal team.

• The ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a busy team.

• Experience with steel-frame, lightweight-cladding and double-brick construction will be highly regarded.
