Operations Officer

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Operations Officer to join our team.

Working on-site each morning, you'll help keep market operations running safely and efficiently while supporting traders, customers and visitors. You'll be the first point of contact for enquiries, operational issues, safety concerns and emergency response, helping ensure the market remains a safe and productive place to work and trade.

This is not a desk-based role. It's a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being out on the ground, solving problems, building relationships and taking ownership of challenges as they arise.

Hours: Monday to Friday, starting at 2:00am. Enjoy early finishes each day and avoid peak-hour commuting.

Key responsibilities

Operations & Stakeholder Support

• Provide exceptional customer service and support to traders, tenants, customers and visitors across the market precinct.

• Respond to enquiries and assist with market procedures and operational requirements.

• Conduct regular inspections and patrols to maintain operational, cleanliness and presentation standards.

• Identify and report operational, maintenance and compliance issues.

Safety and Compliance

• Monitor site activities to identify risks and support workplace health and safety.

• Respond to incidents and emergencies, including administering First Aid where required.

• Support enforcement of Sydney Markets rules, policies and site requirements.

• Work closely with security and other stakeholders to maintain a safe operating environment.

• Ensure traffic control and equipment safety standards are upheld.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Willingness and ability to work early mornings.

• Current Driver’s Licence, First Aid Certificate and Forklift HRW Licence.

• 2+ years' experience in a similar operations, customer-facing, or compliance-focused role.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with calm and confidence.

• Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety (or working toward) will be viewed favourably.
