About the role
As Operations Manager, you will coordinate and deliver the weekly Saturday market at Willunga Farmers Market. This is an active, hands-on role involving outdoor work, periods of standing and walking, some heavy lifting and engaging with market set-up and pack-up.
Key responsibilities
Report to the Market Manager
Plan and coordinate the smooth delivery of every Saturday market, from set-up through trading and pack-up
Act as Market Lead for at least two markets each month, or as required, and ensure a trained Market Lead is rostered every Saturday
Prepare weekly layouts, stall allocations, rosters, signage, equipment and operational information
Brief and supervise staff and volunteers on market days
Induct and support stallholders and ensure they meet WFM's operational, safety and compliance requirements
Adhere to WH&S and maintain operational safety, checks, records and incident follow-up
Provide accurate reporting to the Market Manager and identify practical improvements to market delivery
About you
Practical, organised and calm under pressure, with the confidence to lead a busy market with sound judgement in responding to incidents and changed circumstances
Understanding of, and commitment to, WFM's core values and vision of supporting local, seasonal and fresh food, our farming community, and the principles underpinning WFM
Experience coordinating operations, events, markets, hospitality, retail or a similar practical environment
Strong organisational, rostering and problem-solving skills
Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers and giving clear direction
Sound understanding of safe work practices and operational compliance
Clear, respectful communication and the ability to work well with stallholders, staff, volunteers and customers
