About the Broome Markets
The Broome markets started over 25 years ago by a small group of locals wishing to trade local product, the markets have grown to become a major tourist attraction in Broome. The markets run on weekends and evening during the peak tourist season. More information about the markets can be found here:- broomemarkets.com.au
The markets are managed by the Broome Community Stallholder Association Inc. (BCSA Inc.). The BCSA Inc. is a vibrant and enthusiastic community focused incorporated body with objectives to serve the community and members delivering economic, social and environmental benefits.
The Market Manager will ensure that the operational and market activities are delivered to the highest standard, focusing on friendly and a strong customer service to stallholders, stakeholders and visitors alike.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Committee you will be energetic, well organised, autonomous and enjoy interacting with a diverse range of people and backgrounds.
The right candidate will have demonstrated experience in:-
Customer Service – the proven ability to foster and manage relationships with experience in conflict resolution.
Leadership – the ability to implement the BCSA Inc. strategic plan and manage sub-contractors and employees.
Marketing – ensuring the markets are well publicised on social media and via traditional media including the design and distribution of brochures / flyers etc.
Operations– Running all market operational activities including stall allocation, stall holder enquiries, stall allocations, permits, waste management and security.
Administration – Ability to manage and administer the day to day tasks including book keeping, suppliers, social media and reporting.
Key attributes required:
Previous customer management experience,
Highly organised with excellent time management skills,
Excellent administrative skills including Book keeping, pay roll, record keeping website updates and social media with the ability to use MS Word and Excel proficiently,
Experience in payroll, book keeping and BAS with experience in using Xero (or similar accounting software),
Ability to plan and execute day to day operations including stall holder enquires, site allocations and stall management,
Excellent communication (written and oral) with an ability to manage conflict,
Being able to work in a team with a can-do, hands-on attitude.
Ability to identify and investigate further growth and funding opportunities.
The position is Tuesday to Saturday with negotiable hours up to 35 hours per week with flexible working hour arrangements. Remuneration is experience dependant - with Saturdays being paid at penalty rates.
Whilst pervious market experience would advantageous, full training will be provided to the right candidate.
