About the role
The Restorative Justice Research Assistant will support the delivery of a research project examining restorative justice pathways for victims and survivors of sexual violence, with a particular focus on First Nations victims and survivors. The role will provide research, stakeholder engagement and project support while ensuring all work is undertaken in a culturally safe and trauma-informed manner.
Key responsibilities
Conduct desktop research and literature reviews on restorative justice approaches and related issues.
Assist with stakeholder and community consultation activities, including engagement with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), Aboriginal community members and people with lived experience.
Coordinate research materials, records and project documentation.
Collect, manage and maintain research data in accordance with project protocols, privacy requirements and confidentiality standards.
Assist with the preparation of reports, briefing papers and project updates.
Build and maintain effective relationships with project partners, stakeholders and community representatives.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and delivery.
Undertake intrastate travel as required.
About you
Relevant tertiary qualification in social sciences, law, criminology, Indigenous studies, community development or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience supporting research projects, including literature reviews and report writing.
Strong written communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage information accurately and maintain confidentiality.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online research tools.
Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
Current Driver's Licence.
