Solar Roof Installer

About the role

We are seeking a practical and reliable Solar Roof Installer to join our residential solar installation team. The role involves preparing residential roofs and installing solar mounting systems and panels. Previous solar roof installation experience is preferred. However, we would also consider someone with a trade, roofing, construction or other relevant hands-on background who is willing to learn. This is a physically demanding role that requires working safely at heights, accurately measuring roof areas and confidently using hand and power tools.

Key responsibilities

• Working safely at heights and following all workplace safety procedures

• Measuring residential roof areas and marking out the correct panel layout

• Removing and lifting roof tiles as required

• Locating roof timbers and securely fixing mounting brackets to them

• Grinding and modifying roof tiles so they fit correctly around mounting brackets

• Measuring and cutting aluminium mounting rails

• Installing, aligning and securing aluminium rails and other mounting systems

• Lifting solar panels safely onto the roof

• Positioning and securing solar panels to the rail or mounting system

• Ensuring brackets, rails and panels are installed straight, level and securely

About you

• Previous experience installing solar mounting systems and panels on residential roofs is desirable

• Experience in roofing, carpentry, electrical work, building or construction, mechanical fitting, general trade assistance, or other practical or tool-based work will be an advantage

• Confidence working safely at heights

• Experience using drills, grinders, saws and other hand and power tools is desirable

• Good measuring and basic mathematical skills

• The physical ability to lift and carry solar panels and other equipment

• Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Reliability, punctuality and a willingness to follow instructions

• Current driver's licence, Construction White Card, Working at Heights certification or willingness to obtain it, and Australian working rights
