About First Nations Division

The Australian Museum's First Nations Division leads the development and implementation of culturally informed policies, protocols, and practices to ensure respectful stewardship of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Pasifika, and World Cultures collections, support community access and repatriation, and foster partnerships based on self-determination and ICIP (Indigenous Cultural & Intellectual Property) principles.

About the Role

This is an opportunity to be part of work that matters. As the Divisional & Project Coordinator within the Australian Museum's First Nations Division, you will help bring to life projects that celebrate, strengthen and share First Nations cultures, knowledge and stories. From supporting major exhibitions and reconciliation initiatives to coordinating community engagement activities and strategic projects, your work will contribute to meaningful outcomes for First Nations peoples and communities. Working alongside passionate colleagues and community partners, you will play an important role in helping the Australian Museum be a strong advocate for First Nations culture and self-determination, while creating positive and lasting impact for future generations.

Employment Status:

•  Clerk Grade 5/6
•  Fixed-term up to 6 months
•  Full-time, 35 hours per week

You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $116,832 - $128,912, including an annual salary of $102,936 - $113,579, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

To be eligible for this role at the Australian Museum, you must hold full working rights in Australia and meet all essential requirements listed in the position description.

Knowledge and Experience

•  Experience working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Pasifika, and/or other cultural groups and communities.
•  Excellent attention to detail and proof-reading skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
•  Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite products and other administrative-related software programs.
  
•  Experience with HPE Content Manager, Monday.com, SharePoint, and myWorkZone is highly desirable.
•  Customer-focused and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
•  Experience in developing and delivering projects for a range of stakeholder groups is desirable.
  
•  Experience with meeting coordination, agenda preparation, presentation creation, and minute-taking.
•  Experience with budget and forecasting assistance is advantageous.

Essential Requirements

•  Appropriate approved tertiary qualifications in museums and cultural heritage or other relevant subject matter or relevant equivalent professional experience. Including demonstrated ability to work on museum projects.
•  NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to work across Australian Museum locations.
•  Flexible hours as needed, including availability to attend after-hours events as required.
