Aussie World, the Banana Bender Pub and the Shed is a successful tourism landmark located on the Sunshine Coast Queensland featuring a family theme park with rides and attractions, iconic tourist pub, a function and events centre and a specialty retail shopping village.
This role:
The Health and Safety Officer supports the effective implementation of the park's Safety Management System and helps ensure risks are identified, assessed and controlled across amusement devices, maintenance, food and beverage, guest areas, events and support functions. The role provides practical safety advice, coordinates contractor safety requirements, supports incident investigations and assurance activities, and promotes continuous improvement in consultation with leaders and workers.
You will be primarily responsible for :
· Incident and Hazard Management
· Contractor coordination
· Supporting, coaching and mentoring department managers with meeting their WHS obligations
· Supporting WHS project development
To be successful you will need:
Demonstrated experience in a health and safety, operational risk, or compliance role. Experience in the amusement, manufacturing, maintenance, or other high-risk industries is desirable.
Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits, and corrective action management.
Experience coordinating contractors and reviewing contractor safety documentation is highly desirable.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as SharePoint and Teams.
Experience using other Microsoft applications, such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms, would be advantageous.
A strong understanding of quality and safety management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 45001), together with demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and safety coaching and mentoring.
Qualification and experience:
· Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or higher qualification).
· Formal auditing qualifications (e.g. Skilled Lead Auditor)
