Junior Accountant

About you

You are a detail-oriented finance professional who delivers accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and compliance outcomes for the businesses within the Group, supporting effective decision-making, strong financial governance and the achievement of business objectives.

Experience or exposure to finance processes within a retail or inventory-based environment would be advantageous.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance team member to support the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and compliance outcomes for Burnsco, as part of the wider Jaycar Group.

Your background

• Previous experience supporting finance activities within a retail, wholesale or inventory-based business would be highly regarded

• Deep understanding of month-end processes, journals and general ledger reconciliations

• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with an interest in understanding what the numbers mean for the business

• Exposure to inventory, fixed assets, GST/FBT returns or audit processes is a bonus, but not essential

• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and a willingness to learn and meet reporting deadlines

Key responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly financial results.

• Analytical review of results – provide commentary to management of results.

• Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for GL accounts.

• Maintain Fixed Asset Registers & relevant depreciation posting and schedules.

• Maintenance of cost centres and Chart of Accounts.

• Process stock write-off and revaluations as required, including annual stocktake analysis.

• Assist with budget preparations.

• Assist businesses with monthly forecasting.

• Assist with monthly reporting pack preparation.

• Responsible for monthly BAS preparation and lodgment.

• Sales & COS Reconciliation

• Work with auditors on completing annual external audit

• All tasks must be completed within expected deadlines.
