Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN)
Duration of the training program: 12 months from 1/7/28 up to 30/6/29
Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement
At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.

About the Role
As the Complex Trauma Fellow with a special focus on pelvic and acetabular fractures, you will work under the guidance of the Head of Unit and senior orthopaedic consultants to provide advanced clinical care for complex trauma patients. Your role will encompass the day-to-day management of inpatients and outpatients, including emergency and elective cases, ensuring a high standard of care and contributing to the multidisciplinary management of severe musculoskeletal injuries.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will play a key role in supervising and mentoring Resident Medical Officers and Interns, supporting their professional development and contributing to the postgraduate teaching program. You will also take an active role in departmental research initiatives and quality improvement programs, including leading designated projects. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to further develop subspecialty skills in pelvic and acetabular trauma while contributing to teaching, research, and service excellence in a leading orthopaedic trauma centre.
About You
You are a skilled and dedicated medical professional with a strong background in complex trauma care and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient outcomes. Your ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team is complemented by your advanced clinical skills and sound knowledge of hospital systems and practices.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, with eligibility for registration with AHPRA.
Proven ability to supervise, direct and support junior medical staff, while fostering positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to manage complex clinical and organisational challenges.
Sound understanding of hospital systems, policies, and workplace safety, including Equal Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety principles.
