Assistant Accountant

We are a growing Civil Construction business seeking a commercially minded Assistant Accountant to join our in-house finance team.

The Assistant Accountant will report directly to the CFO and business owners, whilst overseeing the day-to-day work of our bookkeeper/data-entry function.

Ideal candidate will have experience in construction industry, including subcontractor and supplier accounts, progress claims, retentions and project-related costs.

Key responsibilities:

• Payroll specialist, fully competent in Xero and ideally Assigner

• Assisting Management and Financial Accountants

• End-of-month accounting processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, etc

• Tax compliance obligations including preparing BAS

• Assist with monthly financial/management reporting

• Assist with managing fixed assets

• Possible exposure to budgeting/forecasts
  

Qualifications/ Experience:

• Bachelor degree in accounting

• Recently completed CPA or CA qualifications or close to completion

• Experience in working with accounting software Xero

• Previous experience with Assigner is preferred

• Intermediate skills in Excel including pivot tables, lookups
