About the Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer within our Fire Suppression business, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, testing and continuous improvement of innovative fire suppression products and systems used across critical industries. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with a small, collaborative team, supporting product development activities, engineering validation programs and sustainability initiatives.
Based in Virginia, Queensland, this role offers exposure to the full product lifecycle, from design and testing through to manufacturing support and product improvement. It's an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to build their technical expertise while making a tangible impact on the development of industry-leading safety solutions.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Conduct product verification and validation testing, including the preparation of detailed engineering reports.
Design and develop engineering drawings for fire suppression systems and associated components.
Support new product development activities from concept through to implementation.
Participate in product testing programs, including live fire testing where required.
Investigate product non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Maintain engineering documentation and product information within Teamcenter.
Collaborate with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to support product improvements and operational efficiency.
Contribute to sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects across the Fire Suppression business.
About you
As the ideal candidate you are a motivated Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and working in a hands-on environment. With strong communication skills and a willingness to learn, you thrive in a collaborative team setting and are passionate about delivering safe, high-quality engineering solutions. You bring a practical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
You bring:
Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
1 to 3 years of experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
Experience using NX or similar 3D CAD software.
Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication or sheet metal.
Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems, or a willingness to develop capability in this area.
Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and explain engineering concepts.
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute effectively within a small team environment.
