Marine Boat Yard / Boat Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a reliable, motivated and hands-on person to join our team and assist with the day-to-day work around our boat yard. This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their workmanship and is willing to learn. The position will involve a variety of general boat maintenance, preparation and detailing tasks, with the opportunity to develop further skills within the marine industry.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation and application of antifouling coatings

• Preparation of hulls and underwater surfaces prior to painting

• Polishing and detailing of boats

• Propeller and underwater gear preparation

• Removal and application of PropSpeed

• General boat yard maintenance and cleaning

• Assisting tradespeople with boat repairs and maintenance

• Preparing work areas, tools and equipment

• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work environment

• Carrying out general labouring duties as required

About you

• Is reliable, punctual and has a good work ethic

• Takes pride in the quality of their work

• Has good attention to detail

• Is comfortable working outdoors and around boats

• Can work independently as well as part of a team

• Is physically fit and able to carry out practical, hands-on work

• Has a willingness to learn new skills

• Holds a current driver's licence

• Experience with antifouling, polishing, marine coatings or PropSpeed application would be an advantage
