The Athenaeum Club Hobart is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen and deliver exceptional dining experiences for our members.

About the Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Club’s kitchen operations, including:

• Leading, mentoring and developing a professional kitchen team.

• Preparing and presenting consistently high-quality meals for Members and Club events.

• Designing seasonal menus and introducing fresh, innovative ideas.

• Managing food and labour costs, purchasing, stock control and supplier relationships.

• Ensuring compliance with all food safety, WHS and hygiene standards.

• Fostering a positive kitchen culture built on teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• An Australian-recognised Trade Certificate in Commercial Cookery.

• A minimum of three years’ experience as a Head Chef or Chef de Cuisine in a busy commercial kitchen or ready to take the step up.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

• Proven financial acumen, including experience managing food costs, labour budgets and inventory.

• Excellent organisational, communication and time-management skills.

• A genuine passion for quality food, exceptional service and creating memorable dining experiences.
