Purchasing Officer

Haines Educational is a leading supplier of science education equipment and laboratory solutions to schools, universities, and educational institutions across Australia. We pride ourselves on reliable service and delivering products to our customers promptly and accurately. We are currently looking for a motivated and highly organised Purchasing Officer.

This is a permanent part-time, on-site position working approximately 24 hours across 4 days per week. We offer flexibility around start and finish times, making the role well suited to someone looking for school-hours or family-friendly working arrangements.

As our Purchasing Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring we have the right products available at the right time. You will work closely with our suppliers and internal team to coordinate purchasing, monitor orders and maintain accurate purchasing information.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and placing purchase orders with local suppliers
• Following up suppliers regarding orders, availability and expected delivery dates
• Monitoring outstanding and backordered stock
• Communicating professionally with suppliers via phone and email
• Checking order confirmations, pricing and quantities for accuracy
• Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier records
• Assisting with stock planning and replenishment
• Resolving discrepancies and following up purchasing-related issues
• Working closely with our warehouse, sales and administration teams
• General purchasing and administrative duties as required

The successful candidate will join a small, supportive and friendly office environment, where comprehensive training and ongoing guidance will be provided.

About You

Accuracy and organisation are particularly important in this role. We are looking for someone who:

• Is meticulous and has excellent attention to detail
• Is highly organised and able to manage multiple orders and priorities
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Is comfortable working with spreadsheets and Netsuite business software
• Works well independently while also being part of a small, collaborative team

Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour
