Speech Pathology Health Practitioner Trainee

About the role

As a Speech Pathology Health Practitioner Trainee, you will work under the direction and supervision of qualified Speech Pathologists while continuing your formal studies. You will undertake a range of delegated clinical and non-clinical activities aligned with your current level of training and assessed competencies. This role provides practical experience in a supportive healthcare environment while helping you build the skills and confidence required for a future career as a Speech Pathologist.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Work within a scope of practice equivalent to the level of knowledge and skill development of current tertiary studies in Speech Pathology (previously assessed as being competent in).
• Under direction and supervision, perform a defined range of clinical assessment and treatment tasks within the scope of practice as allocated by the supervising Speech Pathologist in accordance with Department work unit guidelines, professional and ethical standards and relevant Queensland Health policies.
• Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation in multidisciplinary teams and with patients/clients, their families, carers, and other relevant stakeholders to provide high quality patient and family centred care and positively influence the team's culture.
• Effectively communicate with patients and their families, and other health professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, information systems (statistics collection, quality and activity data) and medical records that align with Departmental, Unit and Health Service documentation guidelines. Where required, these entries should be submitted to the supervising Speech Pathologist for countersigning.
