Medical Receptionist

About the role

Valley Eye Specialists is a busy paediatric and adult ophthalmology practice that strives to provide exceptional ophthalmic care. You will be joining a team of six ophthalmologists who specialise in a variety of areas including general adult and paediatric ophthalmology, genetic eye disease and neuro-ophthalmology. This is a full-time position for 12 months with a view to continue on.

Key responsibilities

• Managing inquiries via telephone and email
• Appropriate scheduling and confirming of appointments
• Processing of bills and payments
• Document management
• Creation of surgical bookings and invoices
• Liaising with hospital/day surgical facilities and relevant healthcare providers to manage surgical operating lists
• Liaising with Medicare and health funds to ensure accurate and timely processing of claims, patient eligibility, etc
• Dedicated to meeting both internal operational requirements and external patient expectations and requirements
• Participation in educational programs with the practice

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of an administration team focused on providing high quality care
• Self-motivated
• The ability to thrive in a busy environment
• Knowledge of VIP.net is essential
