DEM Australia
About the role
Interior Designer
The Position
We are looking for a talented Interior Designer to join our DEM design team.
DEM is a multi-disciplinary practice bringing the opportunity to collaborate across a range of interiors, architectural, landscape and urban design projects.
This is an excellent career opportunity for someone who has a willingness to learn and show initiative. DEM has a culture of fostering staff development, and we provide a range of in-house and on the job skill improvement opportunities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and team player, who enjoys a diversity of project work and close interaction and collaboration with our other design disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will play an integral role in shaping refined, considered interiors—working in close collaboration with the design director, senior leaders and designers to deliver exceptional design outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:
Collaborating on interior design projects from initial concept through to construction, ensuring a seamless and highly resolved delivery at every stage.
Guiding client engagement with confidence and clarity—translating vision into return briefs, bespoke concept designs, considered spatial planning, and curated material palettes.
Producing detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules that reflect both precision and design intent.
Maintaining an informed understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices, supporting ongoing professional development.
Working closely with the wider design team to ensure concepts are accurately developed and consistently realised throughout documentation and delivery.
Coordinating with consultants and external stakeholders to achieve a cohesive and fully integrated design outcome.
Upholding DEM’s commitment to excellence through rigorous quality assurance across all phases of design and construction.
Who we are looking for:
· A bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture or Associate diploma in Interior Design with 2-5 years local post-graduate experience, ideally on large scale projects.
· Advance proficiency in Revit and Enscape (essential), Sketchup and Adobe Creative Suite
· Strong design, communication, both written & verbal communication skills
· A solid understanding of the full project lifecycle—from initial concept through to documentation and construction delivery.
· Good organisational and time management abilities, with the confidence to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Confident and articulate presentation and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage clients and stakeholders.
Benefits:
· Ongoing mentorship and tailored professional development opportunities, designed to support your growth and accelerate your career.
· A collaborative and supportive studio culture that values innovation, initiative, and design excellence.
· Multi-disciplinary firm offering involvement in a range of design disciplines
