About the role
mabels. is opening mid-September in Orange, and we're putting together the team that will be there from day one.
We're a neighbourhood cafe on McLachlan Street doing the classics properly: coffee that's consistent from the first cup of the morning to the last of the afternoon, food made with care, and service that knows the regulars by name. Nothing gimmicky — just a place people can rely on, run by people who take pride in the details.
Being on the opening team means you help set the standard rather than inherit one. You'll be trained and paid before the doors open, and you'll shape how the place runs from the start.
The roles
Front of house — greeting and looking after customers, taking orders, running food and coffee, keeping the floor and tables as they should be.
Baristas (senior and junior) — dialling in and pouring consistently under pressure. Senior baristas run the machine and help train the team; junior baristas learn on a proper setup with support.
Kitchen — cooks and kitchen hands across prep and service. A tight menu done well, every time.
What we're looking for
Consistency and attention to detail — our whole idea rests on doing simple things well, every single time.
Warmth with customers and reliability with the roster.
Availability across weekends and weekdays — we'll build rosters around genuine availability, so tell us yours.
For senior barista and kitchen roles: solid cafe or restaurant experience.
For junior roles: no experience needed — attitude and willingness to learn count for more.
The right to work in Australia.
What you'll get
Casual positions with award rates and penalties; full-time hours available for the right senior applicants.
Paid training before opening.
A team where everyone contributes to how the place runs.
A brand-new fit-out, quality equipment and a bit of local pride — you're helping open something Orange hasn't seen yet.
