About the Role

Are you interested in building a career in the water industry? If you enjoy being hands on, working outdoors and being part of a dynamic operational environment, the Maintenance and Operations Officer role could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Reporting to the Irrigation Service Delivery Supervisor, this role will undertake a range of field-based maintenance, hands on work, operational, construction and asset management activities across SRW’s irrigation and drainage infrastructure.

You will also have the opportunity to learn and develop skills in water delivery planning, customer order scheduling and network operations, with training provided to support your growth in these areas. This role offers an excellent pathway for someone looking to build their knowledge and establish a career in the water industry.

As the Maintenance and Operation Officer, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Undertake routine and reactive maintenance of irrigation and drainage infrastructure.
• Inspect, maintain and repair pipelines, drains, concrete channels, regulators, gates, valves and associated assets.
• Carry out weed spraying and vegetation control on drains, channels, easements and associated land.
• Undertake minor construction and renewal works.
• Support Water System Planners and Water Service Officers to fulfil water delivery obligations, including undertaking these functions as required following appropriate training.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:

• Strong practical and mechanical skills.
• Willingness to do a range of hands-on work, including maintenance and other outdoor tasks.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
• Commitment to working safely.
• Ability to organise and complete tasks on time and ask for help when needed.
