Purchasing Officer

About the role

This is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the reliable and cost-effective supply of packaging materials, goods and services required across the business. Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will manage purchase requirements from requisition through to delivery, maintain accurate purchasing records, monitor supplier performance and help ensure materials are available when the business needs them. You will also play an important role in supplier negotiations, cost control, inventory coordination and continuous improvement, helping Hazeldenes achieve strong commercial outcomes without compromising quality, compliance or supply reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Source materials, packaging, goods and services required across the business

• Prepare, issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company requirements

• Review and process purchase requisitions from internal departments

• Negotiate supplier pricing, commercial terms and delivery schedules

• Identify and assess new suppliers based on quality, price, reliability and service

• Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and resolve supply issues promptly

• Monitor supplier performance and follow up delays, shortages, quality concerns and pricing discrepancies

• Work with internal teams to monitor stock levels and support timely replenishment

• Track incoming goods and assist in ensuring deliveries match purchase orders and required specifications

• Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and inventory documentation

About you

• Previous experience as a Purchasing Officer, Procurement Officer, Buyer or similar

• Experience sourcing and purchasing materials, goods or services in a commercial environment

• Strong supplier and vendor management skills

• Confidence negotiating pricing, terms and delivery arrangements

• Experience preparing and managing purchase orders and purchase requisitions

• Good understanding of inventory levels, stock replenishment and supply continuity

• Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify value-for-money opportunities

• High attention to detail and accuracy in purchasing records and documentation

• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond quickly to supply issues

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
