About the Role:

As the NDIS Local Area Coordination (LAC) Service Area Manager, you’ll lead and support a community-based team delivering Local Area Coordination services across South Australia and Tasmania.

You’ll provide day-to-day operational leadership, coaching and supervision to the LAC team, ensuring high-quality, person-led services that support people with disability to exercise choice and control, achieve their goals and participate fully in their communities.

Working closely with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), government, community organisations and other key stakeholders, you’ll help build individual and community capacity and strengthen access to inclusive services and supports.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead, manage and develop a high-performing, mobile LAC team.
• Ensure services meet contractual, legislative, quality and performance requirements.
• Support the team to deliver person-centred planning, information, linkages, capacity building and plan implementation.
• Build strong partnerships with people with disability, families and carers, local communities, service providers, government and mainstream services.
• Promote community awareness, inclusion and opportunities for people with disability to participate as active citizens.
• Provide operational insights and strategic advice to the Regional Manager.
• Drive a culture of accountability, professionalism, continuous improvement and service excellence.

Key Selection Criteria:

Knowledge and Skills

• People management - demonstrated experience in successfully managing and leading staff in an environment of rapid change, including managing a mobile workforce, supervision, coaching, performance management and professional development.
• Stakeholder management - proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and demonstrated ability to act as a change agent in communities to build and strengthen capacity inclusive community practices.
• Communication - highly developed communication, negotiation, relationship building, problem solving and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
• Self-management - excellent organisational, time management skills, with the ability to be self-directed, work independently and have a community presence.

Technical Expertise

• Demonstrated experience of undertaking person led assessment, with experience of working alongside people with a disability to identify and achieve their goals and create a good life for themselves.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with and delivering high-quality services to people with a disability, their families, carers, and local communities.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and with vulnerable people and have experience in working with children and with vulnerable people.
• Must have demonstrated proficiency in using various computer programs including Microsoft Office, Outlook, One Note, and client record management systems.

Other Requirements:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in disability or community services (or demonstrated enrolment and progress to completion) and 2 years’ experience in working with people with a disability.
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams to deliver KPI’s.
• Willingness to undertake a National Crime Check, renewed every three (3) years
• Must have a Working with Vulnerable People or Children’s Check
• Driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
• Willingness to undertake a NDIS worker screening check
• Full and ongoing Right to Work in Australia
