About the role
The Instructional Designer supports the development of nationally accredited training programs for Australia's electrical and infrastructure industries by researching, designing and developing high-quality learning and assessment resources aligned to nationally recognised Units of Competency. Working under the direction of the Senior Learning & Development Lead, this delivery-focused role supports a major Certificate-level development project. The primary focus is producing compliant, industry-relevant resources within agreed schedules and quality standards, with stakeholder and Subject Matter Expert engagement as required. The role is based in Australia on a remote/hybrid basis, with occasional travel as required.
Key responsibilities
Develop nationally accredited learning and assessment resources aligned to Australian Units of Competency.
Produce learner guides, facilitator guides, assessment tools, assessor guides and supporting learning materials.
Interpret Training Package requirements to ensure compliance and industry relevance.
Develop practical assessment activities that reflect real workplace performance.
Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practice.
Deliver allocated development activities in accordance with agreed project schedules, milestones and quality expectations.
Manage assigned work packages and prioritise workload to meet agreed deadlines.
Translate complex technical information into learner-friendly resources.
Ensure resources comply with the applicable Standards for RTOs, Principles of Assessment, Rules of Evidence and Training Package requirements.
Participate in internal peer reviews and quality assurance activities.
About you
Experience designing vocational education and training learning and assessment resources.
Experience developing resources aligned to nationally recognised Units of Competency.
Demonstrated ability to manage individual work priorities within a structured project environment.
Experience delivering work to agreed schedules and quality standards.
Excellent technical writing and written communication skills.
Strong application of adult learning principles and instructional design best practice.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple development activities.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Curious, analytical and willing to learn new technical subject matter.
