About us
Cape York Land Council (CYLC) is the native title representative body for Cape York. CYLC has successfully pursued the recognition of Aboriginal land rights and native title and led innovative reform on the Cape. This includes supporting native title groups to engage in negotiations with various stakeholders, implement comprehensive Traditional Owner-led agreements, and build strong Aboriginal nations through the establishment of Prescribed Bodies Corporates.
About the role
CYLC is seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Advisor to join our team in a full-time, 12-month fixed term position. Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a range of human resource projects and operational initiatives that strengthen organisational capability, improve compliance, enhance employee experience, and modernise HR and Learning & Development systems across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
Review and improve HR policies, procedures and frameworks
Support workforce planning and organisational development initiatives
Enhance recruitment, onboarding and induction processes
Assist with employee relations and performance management matters
Support HR reporting, compliance and continuous improvement activities
Provide high-quality operational HR advice and support across the organisation

About you
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive experience
Experience delivering multiple HR projects and initiatives within established timeframes
Sound knowledge of contemporary HR practices including recruitment, workforce planning, learning and development, policy development, employee relations and performance management
Demonstrated experience reviewing and developing HR policies, processes, systems and frameworks
Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
High level computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
An understanding of, or willingness to develop an understanding of, the cultural, social and economic issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Cape York
