FINANCE OFFICER - RATES
Your New Role
The Shire of Narrogin is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Rates Officer to join the Corporate Services team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, develop their skills and build a career within local government and finance. The successful candidate will be supported to develop their knowledge across rating, property administration and financial processes while contributing to meaningful outcomes for the community.
The Rates Officer is responsible for the effective administration of the Shire’s rating and property functions, including maintaining accurate property and rating records, supporting the timely levying and collection of rates and charges, and contributing to compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
Playing a key role in supporting the Shire’s financial sustainability, the Rates Officer delivers accurate information, reporting and administrative services while providing a high standard of customer service to ratepayers, residents, staff and other stakeholders.
What you’ll need to succeed
The successful applicant will have:
Essential
Demonstrated ability to develop knowledge and skills in financial reconciliations, reporting and the preparation of financial information, with a willingness to learn and apply financial processes.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a high level of accuracy.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerised business systems, with the ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
Desirable
Experience working in Local Government.
Knowledge of Local Government rating, property, or revenue processes.
Commitment to continuous improvement and process development.
The benefits of working with us
Salary package range of $83,283 - $88,249 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience inclusive of:
Up to 15% with Council superannuation contribution
4 weeks’ annual leave
