Apiam Animal Health is one of Australia's leading veterinary groups, with a growing network of equine hospitals, reproduction centres, ambulatory practices and specialist equine services across the country.
As our equine division continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Equine Business Development Manager to help shape the future of our equine businesses. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside senior equine leaders, drive strategic growth initiatives, strengthen key client partnerships and help identify future opportunities across Australia's equine industry.
Reporting to our National Equine Manager, you will play an important role in connecting our clinics, veterinarians, clients and industry partners to ensure Apiam continues to deliver exceptional service while growing our presence across the equine sector.
About the Role
This is a highly relationship focused role that combines business development, key account management and strategic growth. You will work closely with our equine clinics, hospital teams and industry stakeholders to identify opportunities, strengthen client engagement and support the ongoing growth of our equine services.
You will build trusted relationships with studs, breeders, trainers, owners and industry partners while working alongside our veterinarians and clinic teams to align customer needs with service delivery and business objectives.
This position is based in Victoria and will require regular travel across Apiam's equine clinics and client sites.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with key equine clients, breeding operations, studs, trainers and industry partners
Develop and execute business growth initiatives across Apiam's equine network
Identify new market opportunities and support expansion into emerging equine service areas
Act as a key point of contact for major clients, ensuring exceptional customer experience and relationship management
Work collaboratively with veterinarians, practice leaders and operational teams to align customer needs with service delivery
Support the development of strategic partnerships, referral relationships and industry engagement opportunities
Analyse business performance, customer trends and market opportunities to inform growth strategies
Represent Apiam at industry events, conferences and key equine gatherings
Contribute to business planning and future growth opportunities across the national equine division
About You
You are passionate about the equine industry and thrive on building strong relationships that create long term value. You are commercially minded, proactive and able to work effectively across both operational and strategic environments.
You will bring:
Experience in business development, key account management, customer relationship management or commercial leadership
Strong knowledge of the Australian equine industry, breeding sector, bloodstock, veterinary services or a related field
Proven ability to develop and maintain high value client relationships
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
The ability to identify opportunities and translate them into business outcomes
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
A willingness to travel regularly throughout Victoria and interstate as required
Experience working within veterinary, animal health, agribusiness, breeding or performance horse sectors will be highly regarded.
