Volunteer Education Committee Member and Incoming Chair
Nakuru Hope is seeking someone with a strong education background to join our Education Committee and grow into the Chair role within 12 months.
About the roleA sub-committee of the Board, that keeps the number of children we support sustainable. You’ll join our Board Chair, Finance Director, CEO and a director acting as secretary.
You’ll help withAssessing how many children we can commit to educating, and whether we can sustain itCosting a child’s full education journeySetting fair, transparent selection criteriaBringing recommendations to the Board, written and in person
Time commitmentFour meetings a year, after 5pm Perth time, 90 minutes, in person (Perth-based preferred) or by video. Plus at least eight hours a month between meetings. Twelve-month renewable term, unpaid, expenses reimbursed, no funded travel to Kenya.

About usNakuru Hope is an Australian registered charity with Public Benevolent Institution status and DGR1 endorsement, running Gabriel's Learning Centre, Home and Medical Clinic in Kenya. Gabriel's Learning Centre School offers free education from pre-primary to junior high, with pathways to senior high, trade training and further studies, enabling learners to break cycles of poverty. Nakuru Hope also operates Gabriel's Children’s Home for girls and boys who have been orphaned or abandoned, creating a secure, family-style environment. The organisation is governed voluntarily by an Australian Board of Directors
