Gym Instructor / Personal Trainer

Introduction to Opportunity We are looking for an energetic and motivated Gym Instructor / Personal Trainer to join our passionate Health & Fitness team at Peninsula Leisure. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in supporting our members to achieve their health and wellbeing goals through exceptional coaching, personalised programming, and an engaging gym floor presence.

About Us Peninsula Leisure (PL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Frankston City Council, is an industry leading organisation focused on reimagining community health and wellbeing experiences, currently through the management of Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC), The Pines Forest Aquatic Centre (Pines), Frankston Skate Park and – as of July 2026 – Centenary Park Golf Course!

Responsibilities of this role include:

• Provide high-quality customer service through fitness assessments, re assessments and delivery of individual fitness programs for PARC members.
• Develop and foster a club culture amongst members and promote other fitness and recreation activities within the facility.
• Provide comprehensive one-on-one personal training sessions that promote results-based training through goal setting, education and consistency.
• Provide a professional public image and maintain a safe, informative and friendly club environment.
• Comply with AUSactive’s policies and guidelines.
• Ensure that facilities and equipment meet with Health and Safety requirements.
• Report any equipment out of order to direct report.

Key qualities we are looking for:

• Passionate about ensuring our members receive an exceptional and memorable experience
• A positive attitude towards building a PT client base
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
• Experience in program prescription and personal training
• Experience running small group personal training sessions

Key Selection Criteria

• Certificate III in Fitness (Essential)
• Certificate IV in Fitness (Preferred)
• Hold and maintain current registration with an accepted peak fitness body that demonstrates currency through CPD/PDP or Education Points requirements
• Degree qualification in Exercise Science (Desirable)
• Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Current Police Records Check
• Current Working with Children’s Check
• Experience in the leisure industry
• Experience in training client base and delivering high-quality customer service
• Sound knowledge of fitness equipment
• Knowledge of physiology and fitness training principles
• Ability to design training programs for multiple fitness goals
• We are currently only accepting applications from people who can work an ongoing weekend gym floor shift and are available to cover morning open and evening close shift if needed.​​​​​​​
