What your day could look like

As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker, you'll help strengthen the connection between community and healthcare. By building trust, supporting access to services and promoting better health outcomes, you'll make a genuine difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities while working within a supportive and culturally responsive team.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

• Supporting people to navigate healthcare services and access the care that best meets their needs.
• Advocating for patients and families, helping create positive, culturally safe healthcare experiences.
• Delivering health education and wellbeing initiatives that encourage informed and confident health choices.
• Building strong community and stakeholder partnerships that improve care coordination and long-term health outcomes.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

• Qualification in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care at Certificate IV or Diploma level.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health priorities, cultures and communities.
• Experience in care coordination, health promotion, advocacy or community health support.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse groups.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience mentoring others, leading community health initiatives and building partnerships across health and community services.
