About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lawyer to join our team at our Mayfield West, NSW office on a full-time basis. As a Lawyer specialising in personal injury law, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality legal services to our clients. This position offers the opportunity to work in a hands on role in cases and to develop your expertise in personal injury matters. You will be responsible for managing files, providing legal advice and representing clients through negotiations and litigation processes, preparing statements, preparing pleadings, engaging experts and briefing and instructing Counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of workers compensation matters from initial consultation through to resolution

• Providing comprehensive legal advice to clients on personal injury matters, including work-related injuries, motor vehicle accidents and public liability claims

• Preparing and reviewing Personal Injury Commission applications, Statements of Claim, Statements of Particulars, heads of damages schedules and submissions

• Conducting client interviews and gathering evidence including from expert witnesses.

• Negotiating settlements;

• Represent clients in Personal Injury Commission and Court proceedings, mediations and alternative dispute resolution processes

• Maintaining accurate and detailed case management records and file administration

• Communicating regularly with clients to provide updates on case progress and outcomes

• Collaborating with colleagues and senior practitioners

• Staying current with developments in personal injury law and legislative changes

What we're looking for

• Admission to practice as a Lawyer in New South Wales or eligibility to practice in NSW

• Demonstrated experience in personal injury law (principally workers compensation)

• Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills with the ability to prepare clear and persuasive legal documents

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients

• Sound negotiation skills and experience in settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolution

• Proficiency with legal practice management systems and Microsoft Office applications

• Experience with LEAP

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously

• Professional integrity and a commitment to client confidentiality and ethical practice

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Preferred: Previous experience in a law firm environment, particularly within a personal injury practice
