Bar Duty Manager

About the role

The Grand Hotel Labrador is seeking an experienced Bar Duty Manager to join our dynamic hospitality team. This is a full-time position based in Labrador, QLD 4215. As Bar Duty Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our bar, ensuring exceptional service delivery, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role is pivotal in maintaining our reputation as a premier hospitality destination and directly contributes to the financial success and operational excellence of the venue.

Key responsibilities

1. Oversee all bar operations during your shift, wiht high focus on staff productivity and customer service

2. Supervise and mentor bar staff, ensuring they deliver outstanding customer service and adhere to company policies and procedures

3. Maintain compliance with all relevant hospitality legislation, including responsible service of alcohol and workplace health and safety requirements

4. Monitor and control food and beverage costs, minimise wastage and maximise profitability

5. Manage staff availability and leave

6. Conduct regular stock takes and manage inventory to maintain optimal stock levels

7. Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues to ensure guest satisfaction

8. Train and coach team members on product knowledge, cocktail preparation and customer service excellence

9. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the bar area, adhering to food safety regulations

10. Liaise with management regarding performance metrics, staffing concerns and operational improvements

What we're looking for

1. Minimum 3 years' experience in a bar management role within a busy hospitality environment

2. Proven track record of successfully managing bar teams and achieving labour targets

3. Strong knowledge of responsible service of alcohol and current RSA certification approved manager license highly regarded

4. Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and bar management software

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff

6. Sound understanding of health and safety regulations specific to hospitality venues

7. Strong numeracy skills with the ability to manage budgets and analyse financial reports

8. Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service

9. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required

10. Food Handler's Certification or willingness to obtain (desirable)
