THE ROLE 

Client outcomes and experience 

• Own a portfolio of clients, including complex or high‑value engagements 
• Act as a trusted senior contact, resolving issues with sound judgement 
• Ensure clear, timely and professional communication 
• Influence client retention, confidence and long‑term relationships 
• Act as escalation point for complex or high‑risk matters 

Quality, compliance and risk 

• Ensure all work meets professional, regulatory and ethical standards 
• Exercise independent judgement on non‑routine technical matters 
• Identify and manage risks to clients and the firm 
• Maintain oversight of team outputs and ensure quality through review and leadership 

WIP and fee recovery 

• Manage workflow, scoping and allocation of work across the team 
• Drive sustainable fee performance and recoverability 
• Review WIP and invoicing aligned with firm expectations 

Team leadership and development 

• Lead, coach and mentor team members 
• Build capability, judgement and confidence in others 
• Provide timely feedback, guidance and escalation support 
• Lead performance and development discussions, ideally with experience using formal review processes such as half-yearly reviews 

Ideal Candidate 

• 7+ years’ professional experience in public practice accounting 
• Demonstrated experience leading people and managing outcomes 
• Proven ability to exercise independent judgement in complex situations 
• Strong client management and relationship skills 
• High level communication and influencing capability 
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities 
• Commercial mindset with an understanding of fees, workflow and performance 
• Degree in Accounting or Finance  
• CA or CPA (completed or working towards)  
• Detail focused, organised and reliable with strong time management and the ability to manage competing priorities  
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and able to build positive working relationships with clients and direct reports  

Systems experience 

• Xero, MYOB 
• BGL 360, MYOB AE, CAS (highly desirable) 
• Intermediate MS Office
