Turf Production Manager

Lead the production of premium turf across two established farms in WA

Lawn Doctor Turf Farms is seeking a Turf Production Manager to take overall responsibility for the production, quality and performance of our two farms in Carabooda and Gingin.

We grow premium turf varieties including Sir Walter DNA Certified, TifTuf, Zoysia Australis and Stampede Hybrid Buffalo, supplying quality turf to customers across Western Australia.

This is a genuine hands-on leadership role with significant responsibility and autonomy.

You will work closely with our Harvest Manager and three farm hands, taking ownership of the broader production operation — from crop establishment, irrigation and nutrition through to turf quality, crop planning, machinery, labour and production efficiency.

Lawn Doctor Turf Farms is part of Lawn Doctor Turf Solutions, a turf maintenance, renovation, construction and production company servicing WA councils, schools, sporting clubs and homeowners since 1975.

This role will suit an experienced turf, horticultural, agricultural or farm manager who enjoys being on the farm and wants the responsibility of running a significant commercial production operation.

You will be responsible for:

·       Coordinating production across our Carabooda and Gingin farms

·       Planning planting, establishment, maintenance and crop readiness

·       Managing irrigation and water efficiency

·       Developing and managing fertiliser and nutrition programs

·       Monitoring turf health, quality, pests, diseases and weeds

·       Maintaining varietal integrity and premium turf quality

·       Working closely with the Harvest Manager to ensure crops are ready for harvest

·       Leading and coordinating the farm team

·       Managing labour, machinery and farm resources

·       Monitoring yields, production performance and costs

·       Planning production to meet future customer demand

·       Maintaining farm, chemical, irrigation and production records

·       Ensuring machinery and equipment are maintained and operational

·       Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality and profitability

·       Maintaining high standards of WHS, compliance and farm presentation

You will be a practical and commercially minded manager who can take ownership and make things happen.

Ideally, you will have experience in:

·       Commercial turf production

·       Agriculture or horticulture

·       Farm or crop management

·       Irrigation and water management

·       Plant nutrition and fertiliser programs

·       Pest, disease and weed management

·       Agricultural machinery

·       Staff supervision and leadership

·       Production planning and cost control

Previous turf-farm experience is highly desirable, but not essential.

We will consider experienced agricultural and horticultural managers who have the right technical knowledge, leadership ability and attitude to learn the specifics of premium turf production.

You will be comfortable walking the paddocks, checking irrigation, inspecting turf, working with the team and making decisions in a fast-moving agricultural environment.

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage entirely from an office.
