Lawyer / Associate – Dispute Resolution, Family Law

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Lawyer / Associate to join our – Dispute Resolution, Family Law team in Sydney.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of family law matters with efficiency, including parenting, financial, divorce, child support, independent childrens lawyer and spousal maintenance cases noting that this work will be conducted remotely.
• Draft and review legal documents including court applications, affidavits, correspondence and other day to day matter requirements, consent orders, binding financial agreements, and binding child support agreements.
• Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance to clients in a sensitive and professional manner.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated with developments in family law.
• Negotiate settlements and liaise with counsel, experts, and other professionals where appropriate.
• Prepare and organise mediation in Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia proceedings.
• Knowledge of Court Rules and the relevant practice directions.
• Time recording and billing in accordance with the firm policies.
• Contribute to business development initiatives, including networking, writing articles, and attending events and referral of new work to the family law team and firm as a whole.
• Supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
• Maintains cyber security at all times. Cultivate an awareness of security risks, stay informed of latest cyber threats, instil best cybersecurity practises and take practical steps to protect the firm and client from cyberattacks.

• Time management skills; and
• Financial discipline and accountability.

Experience

• 3 + years PAE in Family Law practice.
